Introduction
Hydro Survey, working with AECOM on behalf of Northern Ireland Water, carried out a detailed geophysical survey of the River Foyle in Derry in September 2021. The aim was to get a clear picture of the riverbed and the ground beneath it to inform the design and building of a new wastewater pipeline.
What we delivered
To achieve this, Hydro Survey employed a range of advanced techniques, including multibeam echosounders, side-scan sonar, magnetometers, shallow single-channel seismics, and ultra-high-resolution seismics. The latter, in particular, was crucial in providing detailed insights into the subsurface conditions, enabling the project team to assess potential risks and plan the pipeline route effectively.
Hydro Survey processed and analysed the data, producing detailed reports and high-resolution images.
